Akiya Scout
Save, compare, score and export akiya and Japanese property listings into a private dashboard.
In one sentence
Save, compare, score and export akiya and Japanese property listings into a private dashboard.
The problem
Japanese property listings are spread across municipal akiya banks and agency sites, in Japanese, with no shared format and no way to compare two listings side by side.
Why I built it
A personal research project that turned into a real data-normalisation problem, which is the most interesting kind.
Who it is for
People researching property in Japan from outside Japan.

Role
Sole developer.
What I learned
Normalising listings across sites that share no schema is most of the work. The dashboard was two days; the parsers were two months.
